Tories gain Brookmeadow from Labour
 |
| Labour's Ian Feeney |
Labour has lost its Brookmeadow seat to the Conservatives.
Incumbent councillor Ian Feeney lost his seat by 75 votes to Tory Andrew Zucker.
Mr Zucker said: "I'd like to pay tribute to Ian for a good campaign. The turn out was hugely up on last year.
"It reflects how things have gone nationally and it's a good result."
He said his day job, as a trans-Atlantic pilot, would not stop him serving the residents of Brookmeadow.
"I'm doing several trips a month but I do have time during the day to help people out."
Mr Feeney said: "What is sad for me is if the voting was based on what I've achieved over the year then that could have made a difference.
"Unfortunately national results played a part in this so we have fallen foul of that.
"Many people could have voted against Labour as a protest vote against Gordon Brown.
"I feel bad to have lost the platform to help vulnerable members of the community. There are three Tory councillors in the area now and I believe they should be more visible in Borehamwood than they have been in recent years.
"I plan to scrutinise them and make sure they deliver on important issues in the area.
"Where they are not meeting obligations I will be a thorn in their side."
BOREHAMWOOD BROOKMEADOW RESULT
ANDREW ZUCKER (CONS) - 839
Ian Feeney (Lab) - 764
David Harris (Green) - 141

Well done Andrew. Goodbye Ian. Nevermind. People are just sick of labour lies, spin and constant helping of benefit scroungers at the expense of those that actually pay their council tax!!
Good riddance to Labour.

Jack your an idiot with no sense of the REAL world, far too judgemental, what are you covering up? Troubled childhood? Clearly something disturbs you to make you so angry and aggressive!

I'm sorry to see Mr Feeney go. He was a good councillor who did his best to hold the tories to account.

I agree with Alex. Ian Feeney has done a fine job and I sincerely hope he will consider standing again at the earliest opportunity.

It is a shame that Ian lost because he did a lot for the community. I wish him well in the future.

I have always voted Labour in every election, but this time I voted for Andrew Zucker.
[bold]Let's just hope he keeps his promises of repaired roads, and more police/PCSO's walking the beat.[/bold]

Knowing both candidates as I do, I am sorry for Ian but feel he has been stictched up by his pathetic party, who have lost grips with reality.
I only hope Andrew will be here for all the votes and not 30,000 feet up in the air.
Ian change sides and stand somewhere else.

Well done Captain Andrew! A clean campaign in which you concentrated on the issues and never resorted to cheap jibes at your opponent. Ian - right guy, wrong party.

If only people realized this was not a general election and that you were voting for the person who would look after the community regardless of who they stand for and I feel sorry for Ian as he was by far the best candidate - has done a great job and does have his feet firmly on the ground. Please dont give up Ian.

I have nothing against Ian personally. Just the lousy party he belongs to and the idiot policies for which they stand.
Everyone knows that decent areas are under tory control and inner city / slum areas are labour.
When your tory area turns red, time to leave.
I am sure Ian did a great job. He would have had a much better chance of re election as an independent.

Jack you really are a total crettin. If you think that 31 Tories will now be any better than 28 you are definitely in la la land. They continually betray us in this Town and nothing will change. As for all the other Tory sychophants, especially that Freddy guy, there were no cheap jibes that is usually left to Morris Bright. Ian did more for Borehamwood than the other 2 lazy Tories in Brookmeadow put together! Bad luck Ian you deserved much better and it will be so. What goes around comes around and Labour will win back Borehamwood, and you will be there leading!

whilst cleaning my car a week before the election, the local labour candidate was out canvassing, now they knocked on every other door and missed me out...ummmm i think i am not worthy of a knock at the door, so i asked, only to be told that according to there records i don't vote...I do, always have done since i could, oh well you don't vote labour then, no your right i don't, but how would they know as i thought my vote was between me and the ballot box, apparently not, apparently after some investigations last week it does appear that councillors can retrieve this information as to has voted for them, which i find a complete infringement as far as data potection is concerned...quite frankly ALL PARTIES how bloody dare you!! I shall be sending this complaint into the ministry of justice, it's between me the ballot box and WHOEVER i decide to discuss this with not for general infomation for whoever wants to know, but then my child benefit records are out there for general use too so why am i not surprised!!!

Labour Party represents High Taxes or should we say Champagne Socialists . Tony Blair has 6 Houses , Prescott is a rich man . People can be socialist like Tony Benn . But New Labour is not Socialist at all .
